How to Measure Website Lead Quality

Evaluate website inquiries by fit, intent, service need, source and next-step outcomes instead of relying on form volume alone.

Define a relevant inquiry first

A useful lead fits the service, coverage and type of work the business can take on. It also contains enough information for a sensible reply. Agree those criteria before judging a website by its total number of submissions.

Record a small set of outcomes

  • Service requested and whether it is within scope
  • Source, when it is known reliably
  • Whether the contact details work
  • Whether a meaningful conversation followed
  • Reason the request progressed or did not fit

Calculate rates with a clear denominator

Qualified inquiry rate is the number of inquiries meeting the agreed criteria divided by the inquiries reviewed. State the period and sample size. Keep spam and duplicates identifiable so that a change in unwanted submissions does not look like a business improvement.

Review the website and follow-up together

If people consistently request a service you do not offer, improve the relevant page and form. If suitable requests receive slow or unclear replies, review the operational handoff. Do not attribute every lost conversation to the landing page.

Use the findings to improve the next question

Add a field only if its answer changes qualification or routing. Explain important boundaries before submission where possible. Collect only useful information and use an appropriate privacy process for any analytics or customer records involved.
